Shortly before Bryce's 2 year birthday last April he got his first broken bone. He got a buckle frature in his leg jumping off the couch. The doctor then said he was almost healed by the time we got him seen that he didn't need a cast. Well yesterday Bryce and Daddy were playing and all of a sudden Bryce started crying. He complained his wrist hurt. After some ice and TLC I thought he was ok. Then today at his swim lesson I noticed he was really favoring it. So this afternoon we went to the doctor. Turns out its another buckle fracture on his radial head. (the inside bump of his wrist). This time they wanted to cast him, however didn't have the right equipment for his small arm. After much contemplating they decided to just make a short arm splint. So now he has his right arm in a splint for the next 2-4 weeks.
Good news:
It's just a splint not a cast.
He doesn't seem to mind it much and didn't cry during the whole appointment.
He finished swim lessons before he got the splint.
Bad news:
It has to stay on 2-4 weeks which runs us right to the end of our 2 week road trip.
The splint reminds him something is wrong with his hand so he focuses on the "owie"
He won't get to play at the water park like planned on the 4th. :(
All in all he'll be ok and it was nothing serious. I guess with two boys I will be a frequent flyer at the doctors and Quick care clinics. :( (Frequent flyer is a term we(Rehab therapists) use for patients who keep coming back.)
